A.  Introduction - what you should know

Top1.  How do I register my organization

Before your register, verify your eligibility to use CADAC by clicking on "Click here to see if you are eligible" on the login page. If you are eligible and need to register your organization, click on "Register".

 

Top2.  How long will it take for my registration to be approved?

It will take approximately 24 to 48 hours for your registration to be approved. Approval of your registration must be confirmed by the funding agency to which your organization is applying to. Once your registration is approved, you will receive an auto generated email with your login coordinates.

 

Top3. How do I print a copy of the CADAC user guide?

It will take approximately 24 to 48 hours for your registration to be approved. Approval of your registration must be confirmed by the funding agency to which your organization is applying to. Once your registration is approved, you will receive an auto generated email with your login coordinates. "6.1 ? The complete User Guide". 

 

Top4.  I am receiving error messages when I try to view or access CADAC reports. Is there something I am doing wrong?

You will need to configure your browser (e.g. Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome) to allow pop-ups in order to view or access CADAC reports.

 

Top5. I am unable to log into CADAC; am I doing something wrong?

Make sMake sure you log in usingMake sure you log in using your “User Id” and not the “CADAC ID”. The CADAC ID is a code for the use of your funding agency; by providing your CADAC ID to your agency, you give the agency users permission to view your data;
• The “User Id” is  not Case sensitive;
• The password  is Case sensitive: it must contain at least one upper case character, one lower case character and one number/symbol.

 

B.  Financial Form

Top1. I entered my financial data online and clicked on Save Draft but lost all my changes. Why?

The session has timed out. It is important to click on Save Draft regularly to avoid losing your data; please note data entry does not register as activity. The system is configured to time out after 60 minutes of inactivity to prevent unauthorized access to your data as well as to optimize the website's performance.

 

Top2. How many years of financial data should I enter in CADAC?

You must contact your funding agency to determine how many years of data you are required to provide for your grant application. This varies from agency to agency.

CADAC suggests that you enter budget years as far back as you can provide, including Financial Statements. This is your data and it will provide you with a history and trends of your organization.

 

Top3. I received the following message: Line 6205 for this year must be identical to line 6215 of last year.

You must "Submit" the draft version of the previous year before continuing. Once saved, the amount from line 6215 is automatically carried onto line 6205 of the following year.

When entering financial data on-line, you must save in order to obtain the calculation (line addition).

 

Top4. How do I print my Financial Form?

To PRINT your data, you must first download your work into the Excel Format; click the “Download” button located on the Forms page, then click download again; do not change the default date.You also have access to print by clicking on “print“ at the end of the financial form.

5. How can I be sure the downloaded financial years reflect my situation?

 

If you Download a form, you must not change Your Current Year date; by default, that year is your “Current Year Projected”.

6. Do I have to download a Financial Form for each year I wish to enter data for?

When you Download the Financial Form, this action will download the form including all of your previously entered data for: “Prior Year Actual”, Last Year Actual”, Current Year Projected” and Three Request Years.

7. I downloaded the Financial Form but I cannot locate it on my hard drive.

If you download the Financial Form, you must SAVE the form as Excel workbook on your desktop or other location such as “My Documents”. Once you have entered all of your data, UPLOAD the form back into CADAC, click on the “Edit” button, scroll down to the bottom of the page, then save and submit the form.

8. How do I “Submit” my Financial Form?

Click EDIT to access the Financial Form; the SAVE and SUBMIT buttons are located at the bottom of the Online Form.

9. Once I have submitted my form, can I go back and make changes?

You can go back and Edit the Financial Form as often as you wish when the status of the form is “Draft”, “Submit” or “Revise”; you cannot Edit the Financial Form when it is “Under Review” or when the year is “Locked” meaning that the completed year has been reconciled with the Financial Statements.

10. How can I see all of the versions I have created each time I Submitted the Financial Form?

Every time you save and submit, you create a new version; you can view all of the versions by clicking on the “Revision History” button located in the Financial Form View or Edit page.

11. The Financial Form failed to upload and I received the following message:  Maximum Detail Length is 200 characters.

Open your Excel form and check the comments rows where you entered text to specify details. Abbreviate the text so it does not exceed 200 characters in total since this is the maximum allowable.

N.B.: It is now mandatory to input explanatory details for all “Other” financial lines (e.g. lines 4170, 4425, 5190, 6135, 6270, etc.), when a value has been entered on one or more of them.

12. I have an error when attempting to upload the Financial Form.

If you download the Financial Form and you work with Excel 2007 or higher versions, you must “Save as Excel Workbook”. The extension must be “xlsx”.

13. I cannot Download the Financial Form; I received a message saying that the form is password protected.

You can work using all versions of Excel however, sometimes; Excel versions 2000 and 2004 are not compatible with CADAC because of that particular version's protection.

Only forms downloaded from CADAC and kept locked can be uploaded to CADAC. If you are prompted to unlock the form when downloading it on your computer, you must not accept since you will not be able to upload the form later.

14. I have uploaded the Financial Form but am unable to attach the Financial Statements; the paperclip for the attachments is not visible.

You must “Save and Submit” the form for the Add attachment icon to display; click the paperclip and you will see the Add Attachment page.

15.  I mistakenly entered financial figures in the online Financial Form. How can I remove Saved or Submitted information?

For "Saved" data only, click on the "Reset" button to reset the values back to the previously submitted version.

You cannot null or cancel an already “Submitted” form; please contact the CADAC Administrator.

16. My revisions cannot be viewed by my Program Officer or by CADAC, is there anything else I need to do?

In order for your Program Officer and for CADAC to view your saved revisions, you must “Save and Submit” the form.

You can no longer upload the statistical form; you must enter your data directly on line. Please refer to the 4.1 - Entering Data and Submitting the Statistical Form located in the Help menu once you are logged into CADAC.

Click EDIT to access the Statistical Form; the SAVE and SUBMIT buttons are located at the bottom of the Online Statistical Form.

8. Once I have submitted my Statistical Form, can I go back and make changes?

You can go back and Edit the Statistical Form as often as you wish. Please note that the statistical form is no longer being locked as we have no means of validating statistical data.

Every time you save and submit a form, you create a new version; you can view all of the versions by clicking on the “Revision History” button located in the Statistical Form View or Edit page.
